The Lower Depths (どん底)
Gorky’s famous play set in an Edo (Tokyo) slum, its humanist message enlarged and its melodrema muted by a remarkable emsemble performance from the large cast. Interesting portrayal of several different people and their life stories as told by themselves while interacting with other people in a slum environment.
